The Optometrists and Dispensing Optician Registration Board of Nigeria says over 60 million Nigerians are at risk of glaucoma disease in the country.
The Registrar of the Board, Dr. Obinna Awiaka made this known at a media briefing to commemorate this year’s Glaucoma week in Abuja. He said every black man is at risk of glaucoma, and advised that the only way to tackle the disease is early detection through screening, describing glaucoma as the second leading cause of blindness worldwide after cataracts.
