The Unit offers legal advice to the Council and coordinates the investigation of alleged misconduct involving Optometrist and Dispensing Optician services providers and facility. It also coordinates the processing of relevant documents for consideration of the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria Disciplinary Tribunal during trial of Optometrist and dispensing optician for alleged unethical practices.
It liaises with External Solicitors in preparation of statements of claims and/or statement of defense for the prosecution of litigation in which the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria is a party, and appears in a representative capacity in all cases involving the Board before any court in Nigeria. The Unit coordinates the drafting of legal documents and liaising with relevant Government institutions in perfecting all drafts into enforceable instruments, and reviews legal documents on behalf of the Board like MOUs, among others.
The Procurement Unit is one of the units that reports directly to the Registrar/CEO. The Procurement unit is responsible for all procurement activities of the Board. The Unit is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring value for fund (money) in addition to ensuring that the organization needs in terms of Goods, Works and Services are met. The Procurement Unit ensures transparency and timeliness in its procurement process while ensuring that due process are observed in accordance with the Procurement Act 2007.
The Corporate Affairs Unit of the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria is the official window of the internal and external public. We provide a multiplicity of duties in the Board. The Unit is the first port-of-call between the Registrar/CEO of the Agency that is responsible for the office of the Registrar and the public.
The PR Unit under the Registrar’s Office is responsible for creating, facilitating and maintaining a positive image for the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria by projecting the various programmes and activities through various media efforts. To this end the PR Unit works with various Departments and Registry Units to collate their various regulatory forays for the attention of the public to orchestrate desired image for the Registrar, Board and Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria. It also coordinates communication with related Parastatals and Agencies on social issues – invitations to events, congratulations, condolences, etc.

Audit unit assesses the quality of internal control in optometrist and dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria. The unit is responsible for examining and evaluating the Board’s financial records, verifying the physical asset and inventory of the board and also determining the level of compliance with laws, regulations, and policies. The unit then form an independent opinion on all the activities and make reports to the Registrar.
The Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN) is the body statutorily empowered by an Act of Parliament (cap 09 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, formerly known as Decree No. 34 of December, 1989) to regulate the practice of the professions of Optometry and dispensing Opticianry In Nigeria.
